Earlier this month a few of the leading ISP companies in South Africa launched their new uncapped ADSL services at an affordable rate. This is great for us South Africans! Below are these mentioned ISPs.
  • Afrihost – Starting at R197 per month
  • Mweb – Starting at R219 per month
  • Axxess – Starting at R196 per month
  • MyISP – Starting at R159 per month
  • @lantic – Starting at R339 per month
the_uncapped_adsl_warParents, Kids, Students and the rest of the general public have become bandwidth hungry. But is this necessarily a bad thing? Not at all! Uncapped ADSL means 24/7 internet access, and 24/7 internet access means a lot more people will be surfing the internet because information is available literally right at their fingertips. If you have a website already or planning to get one designed soon, then this is great news for you. Why? Because internet is becoming more affordable and available, and your website will potentially start gaining more customers. People are browsing the internet from their home computers, laptops and mobile phones and are becoming a part of their daily lives.

Your website’s traffic relies on a well optimised site. People that use the internet always find what they looking for via search engines such as Google. In order for Google to index your website and give you a good page rank, your site needs to be SEO’s by professionals (such as Go Fish Client Catchers) or by yourself if you have any experience in the field.

South Africa is hosting the FIFA world cup this year and we’ve been seeing many improvements in our country’s telecommunication infrastructure including the availability of these uncapped accounts. Telkom will soon be upgrading their infrastructure to cater for 10mb ADSL lines; rumours are that they are planning to have it ready by June for the FIFA World Cup, and current 4mb lines will automatically be upgraded to 10mb lines. Guess I’ll be watching the FIFA World Cup on my pc!

In my personal experience I have had great experience with Afrihost. So if you are thinking about getting uncapped, go ahead…it’s worth it. There is so much information available online, whether it’s your kids doing their project assignments, you’re looking for an address for a company or you’re doing online shopping for a new camera, it’s all there…
