Wiredoo-The Relational Search Engine Featured

Written by Alexi Vontas
Recently at the Web 2.0 summit in San Francisco, an unlikely speaker took the podium to announce a new search engine he is launching. The 1980’s rapper MC Hammer announced that in the next few weeks his team of developers would be unveiling the latest in search engine technology that has been 2 years in the making.

The search engine is said to concentrate less on keyword related results and more on the relationships with the searched term. This means that one could do a search on the keyword 2196 and we would get information on the Sandton area, schools in and around Sandton, Crime stats and relevant information relating to the postal code 2196. Similar to Wolfram Alpha, Wiredoo will not so much give relevant information on a search term, but rather deep drilled stats and insight into anything that’ is punched in.

When someone searches Ford Focus, they don’t only want prices and fuel consumption. They are looking for colour options, comparative models, wheels that may suit the car etc. People use relationships to make decisions and to these help people to interpret information. Although the world most widely used search engine, Google, does make use of relational search, MC Hammer believes his new engine, which is currently in pre-beta testing, will do the job much better and get deeper results for its users.

You can test the search engine out in the mean time, but you will need to register as a user so your information will be used to rate and improve the engines performance and relevancy. To signup, visit http://wiredoo.com/global/signup.html.

The interface and functionality of the engine are as yet still under some very secretive and test staging, but within the next couple of weeks we can look forward to this very exciting and innovative tool hitting the scene. The slogan of the new search site is “Search once and see what’s related”. Some people think taking on Google is an almost insurmountable task, and it is really, but who knows what Hammer has up his very large sleeves. Lets hope this is not just another search engine that turns out to make you “Search once and never use it again”.
